Fall 2002

Cast Off (September)!

I started fifth grade on September 2nd, and on September 6th my cast came off. My left arm still has a little bump in it [right], a 5-degree bend, but the doctor says that it will straighten as I grow, and a year from now an x-ray should show a completely straight arm. After I got the cast off, I had to be "careful" with my arm for two weeks. That wasn't easy!

Flag Football

I played flag football through Boys and Girls Club in Kirkland.  My team was the Longhorns. It was really fun because some of my best friends from school were on my team, including Trevor, Robby, Kyler, and Kurt. We had a pretty good season. My favorite positions are running back and wide receiver.

Mom and Dad came to all my games except one a piece. I guess they were pretty lucky that we didn't have much rain in November!

Above left:  I caught that ball successfully, although I didn't run it anywhere. (The green team cheated a lot.) Above right:  This one I ran all the way to the end zone.  On one Saturday morning when we played two games back to back, I made five touchdowns!  (That was a really good day!)

Bottom left: I got it!!  Bottom right:  After the game, Jarell, Kyler and I talk about our win. Behind us are assistant coach Pat (left), assistant coach Bo (hidden in middle), and head coach Robert. They are all my friends' dads, and they were cool coaches.

Halloween, October

For Halloween I was a pirate ghost. The eye patch got to be a little annoying after a while. I got 7 lbs of candy in my pillow case!

After Halloween I wore parts of my costume (we can't bring even toy weapons to school) for my presentation on Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon. I didn't wear the makeup, though!

Band, November

This fall I started playing the trumpet with an inter-school band.  Mom drives me to school an hour early every Monday, Wednesday, and alternating Fridays to practice.  I like the trumpet 'cause it's fun.

At the winter concert [left] (I'm third from the right in the back), we played mostly easy songs from our band book, not Christmas songs. But I've figured out some Christmas music on my own.
