Vlissingen, the Netherlands, and Brussels, Belgium
For New Year's the family traveled to Vlissingen, the
Netherlands, to visit Jan's family. We confirmed that Jan's stories have been true: the Dutch celebrate New Year's much more avidly than
most Americans do,
and Cameron lit off an hour's worth of fireworks, surrounded by every other
family in the neighborhood doing the same. We also spent a day in Brussels.
Although we couldn't see as much as we would have liked because of poor timing
and weather.
